 I am writing to request that you vote YES for HB516. The bill is scheduled to be heard tomorrow, 4/16/2024.

 Although environmentalists oppose Carbon Capture and Sequestration, it seems to be gaining traction in Louisiana. This bill, which has passed the House natural Resources and Environment Committee, will provide some physical protections during CCS.

 The bill adds emergency response in place as a requirement for CCS.  It establishes requirements for CCS regarding emergency preparedness, recordation of maps, local notice, siting restrictions, local zoning, ground water monitoring, and reporting. Requires public safety preparation for CCS (stronger regulatory structure). 

The Sierra Club, Delta Chapter, supports this bill.
